HEADSHOTS 101
What should i wear?
We want to make sure your clothes compliment your headshot, not distract from so here's how to choose the best clothes for your session:
Simple solid-colored clothing are a staple. Think neutral tones like black, white, navy, or earth tones. But also don't be afraid to bring a pop of colour. This can be a great way to stand out and bring some more personality into your shots.
Make sure your clothes fit well. Clothes that are too baggy or tight can distract from your natural shape. Fitted singlets, t-shirts and casual collared shirts are great options.
Feel free to bring as many outfits as you like! Just make sure they're clean and crisp and avoid the big logos, text and loud patterns.
Hair and Makeup?
We want your headshot to capture your natural look. We recommend keeping your hairstyle simple and natural. If you’re planning to get a trim, do so a few days before the session to avoid any drastic changes. Actors typically want their hair to look real and effortless, so avoid styles that are too extreme or trendy unless that’s the character you’re aiming for. If your hair tends to get frizzy or messy, feel free to bring along some products for quick touch-ups.
For makeup, a subtle natural makeup that enhances your features without being too heavy is recommended. For men, avoid makeup if possible, but a light dusting of powder to reduce shine can be helpful, especially if you have oily skin.
Is beauty sleep real?
Yes! So get plenty of rest the nights before your session. You want to look fresh and energised, so try to avoid staying up too late. Don't forget to drink lots of water in the days leading up to your shoot to keep your skin clear and radiant. Lip balm and moisturiser also never hurt.
The big day.
Please arrive on time for your session, hair and makeup done and with your selection of outfits. We understand that sometimes the tram runs late or you may get caught in unexpected traffic jams. That's totally fine — just let us know! If you're running more than 20 minutes late, no worries; we'll still be able to capture some beautiful shots. Just note that we may not have time for as many outfit changes or styles as with a full session.
A SECRET Final tip.
Relax and have fun with the shoot! We strongly believe getting headshots should be a fun and collaborative process. We hope to make you leave feeling better and more confident than ever before! We can't wait to capture some stunning photos that'll make casting directors, friends, family, fans but ultimately, you, go "wow"!
